Wilfried Zaha: Roy Hodgson praises Crystal Palace winger after failed exit

Wilfried Zaha continues to show the same devotion to Crystal Palace since his failed summer exit, says Roy Hodgson.
Prior to the Premier League transfer window shut, the winger handed in a transfer petition per day, Sky Sports News knows.
Hodgson claims Palace were ready to permit Zaha to leave but Arsenal and Everton didn’t meet the Ivory Coast.
Zaha, that has come through by the academy, has settled any discontent with the hierarchy over the transport saga of the club and has since played all four of Palace Premier League games so far this season.
“With Wilf, I don’t think anybody was thinking we certainly must block him because we want our very best player still with us” Hodgson said.
“We understood that if a very major deal comes his way along with a much bigger team than Crystal Palace need him, and he’s desperate to go, we’re going to have to attempt to do some kind of deal.
“The unfortunate thing about Wilf is that offer didn’t come his way against the type of club he would want. I think they’ve thrashed that facet of it and Steve Parish has made that obvious to Wilf out.
“Consequently it’s not a major issue for me using Wilf coming back, with accepted the situation. As it had been the way he operates here is exactly the same. Since the first day he’s been mature about it”
Zaha would have been the second death at the Eagles at the summer had he abandoned Selhurst Park, after Aaron Wan-Bissaka joined Manchester United for 50m.
“It was a very simple situation with Aaron Wan-Bissaka,” Hodgson added.
“If it becomes evident that this offer is really on the desk and he would like to proceed, you react with more experience than you would when you’re younger.”
Palace, who sit in the Premier League table, see with Tottenham on Saturday.
