West Indies appoint Kieron Pollard as new ODI and T20 captain

Kieron Pollard has been appointed as the West Indies’ fresh limited-overs captain as a member of a nationwide group revamp.
The Windies are looking for a full-time head coach to trace Floyd Reifer and appointments Richard Pybus.
Pollard, 32, hasn’t played an ODI because 2016 but has showcased in internationals, most recently against India last month, and is a regular in T20 competitions like the Indian Premier League, the Vitality Blast and Australia’s Big Bash.
Jason Holder will revert to the Test captaincy alone as Pollard takes over from Carlos Brathwaite in T20 and out of him in cricket.
Cricket West Indies president Ricky Skerritt told windiescricket.com:”We believe Kieron Pollard is the perfect man at the ideal time now to direct the West Indies group in white-ball cricket.
“Jason Holder is a really important drive and he’s still likely to be our red-ball captain”
Pollard stated:”I am truly honoured to be appointed captain of the West Indies and I’d love to thank Cricket West Indies’ board of supervisors for placing their faith and confidence in me.
“I have played franchise cricket all around the world and I hope to utilize this expertise to assist the West Indies within my role as captain.
“In the short term as captain, the immediate goal is to defend the T20 World Cup.”
