Dale Earnhardt Jr. still has sore back but plans on racing at Darlington
(CNN) — Dale Earnhardt Jr. is only largely retired, therefore he does not plan to miss out driving one of his favourite tracks when NASCAR belongs to Darlington Raceway in South Carolina next weekend.
Earnhardt, who was in a plane crash last week together with his spouse his wife and two pilots, said he’s still hurting from the wreck but intends to take the wheel of an auto in the Xfinity Series.
“My lower back is bruised up bad. Lots of swelling and I just want it to return and the pain to flake outside,” he also tweeted. “I’ve been handling the region daily only to get nicely to race.”
Earnhardt retired from racing but he’s hurried since then — this past year in an Xfinity race in Richmond. Earnhardt is a television analyst for NBC and a team owner.
On Monday, after skipping the races in Bristol, Tennessee, near where his plane crashed following a landing, Earnhardt thanked emergency responders his pilots and hospital workers.
“We are really blessed that on board escaped with no serious injuries, including our daughter, both pilots and our furry friend Gus,” Earnhardt added.
Racing fans are awaiting the one on-track look this past year of Earnhardt. He also holds the record for winning the circuit’s most popular driver award 15 years in a row.
