MMA ODDS AND ENDS FOR TUESDAY: DC VS. HENDO RUMORED FOR UFC 175
A matchup between two of the top-10 light heavyweights in the world is rumored to occur at UFC 175. According to a report from MMAFighting.com, Daniel Cormier is Very Likely to face legend Dan Henderson in UFC 175 that July in Las Vegas. Previously, Cormier had been linked to a struggle against Rafael Feijao, but the UFC has apparently thought twice about that matchup and will do Cormier/Hendo instead. Even though the report was said to be false by UFC president Dana White via Twitter, all of us understand that White likes to maintain these types of items in house until they are 100% official, and undoubtedly as the old expression goes,”Where there is smoke there’s fire.” I really do think this matchup between Cormier and Henderson occurs because it’s the fight that makes most sense from the 205lb branch at the moment. There are a good deal of individuals out there discussing how awful Henderson appeared in the initial two rounds of his fight with Shogun Rua at UFC Fight Night 38 a couple weeks ago, and he certainly didn’t look like the Hendo of older for the first ten minutes. However, what people forget is that the struggle was scheduled for 25 minutes, and Henderson got the job finished in the 16th minute of the struggle. I feel like fans and press have been way too critical of Henderson believing that, you know, he won the struggle with Shogun. As far as Cormier goes, he’s been unbeaten in his mixed martial arts profession and basically untested for the most part as he has been pretty much flawless in all his fights, including his three in the UFC against Roy Nelson, Frank Mir, and Pat Cummins. But I genuinely believe Henderson is a more dangerous fighter compared to all three of those men, and this struggle between DC and Hendo is no walk in the park for DC, regardless of what some folks are saying. That said, obviously Henderson would put in the fight with Cormier has a large favorite, if it really goes down. My guess is that DC opens roughly -400 for the struggle, one that is very likely to serve as the co-main event of UFC 175 when that event happens. I believe that’s a neutral place for DC, but I would not surprised at all if the gambling public bets him up to a crazy number, either. We get confirmation of the bout soon, because I think Hendo is the ideal test for DC and when Cormier can complete him in remarkable fashion, he will have truly got his title taken against Jon Jones.
