British pet shops to be banned from selling puppies and kittens

Pet shops should be banned from selling kittens and kittens by the federal government in a crack down aimed at quitting dog farming.
Third-party sales of dogs or cats under six weeks old will be prohibited, meaning customers might have to cope directly with all the breeder or even a licensed rehoming centre.
The movement, announced from the Department of Environment Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), follows public appointment which found 95% of the population encouraged because of such a ban.
It follows laws that are new, that came into force on 1 October, which prohibited licensed sellers from dealing in puppies and kittens under eight months old.
Before this year, a petition financing the Lucy’s Law campaign to stop to sales by thirdparty industrial dealers was signed by 150,000 persons and triggered a debate in parliament.
Defra stated the ban, which can soon be introduced”when parliamentary time allows” into 2019, could make it harder to”high-volume, low-welfare breeders” to use.
Animal welfare minister David Rutley, that announced the ban on Sunday, paid tribute into the Lucy’s Law campaign, declaring the government was devoted to ensuring”the nation’s much-loved pets get the ideal start in life”.
He explained”I urge anyone who’s considering buying a dog, or any pet, now of the year to pause and consider thoroughly before doing this.”
Marc Abraham, ” the television vet and creator of Pup Aid and the Lucy’s Legislation effort, said it was”a real success for grassroots campaigners along with the UK’s puppies and dogs”.
Battersea Dogs and Cats Home’s chief executive,” Claire Horton, stated:”Properly enforced, this will help put an limit to puppies being used as breeding devices and retained in shocking conditions.
“the times of puppy dealers lining their pockets with no regard for animal welfare must now return to a conclusion ”
Even the RSPCA’s deputy chief executive, Chris Wainwrightsaid”We believe that dividing back on unscrupulous traders, who put profit ahead of creature welfare, will provide much-needed protection for future pet owners and critters.
“We have said that an end to third party earnings independently would be insufficient to get rid of the pet trade crisis and also we are pleased that this is looked at along side improved licensing conditions because of breeders introduced earlier this season ”
